I hope you guys are all enjoying your day....
It was another day of up early and heading off to a baseball game...enough already, I say....
I caught a few snippets of time in the studio between our neighborhood picnic...and managed to get these two backgrounds done...
These backgrounds were done on canvas - I know, right!!! I always cringe when it comes to working on a canvas...I don't know why, but I do....but here are my beginnings....
I was playing around with paints, inks, stencils, flexible modeling paste, glass beads, and stamps...pure experimentation and play, and it was oh, so fun!
Not sure of where I will go with these next, but its a start...
Hope to see you guys here again tomorrow...
Until next time,
Ophelia

Ophelia these are beautiful beginnings.

Hi, Ophelia! Thanks for sharing these backgrounds, as well as the processes that went into creating them! As a relative newcomer to mixed-media collage, I'm always looking for new methods and materials to begin a composition, and the items you've used here have inspired me to try them myself!
Maybe it's the newbie in me...but I also tend to be intimidated by canvas. I've found that I'm much more scared to start a project when I'm using a canvas I paid $ for, for fear of making a disastrous mistake that results in it being thrown out. A few months back, I decided to try creating collages on cardboard pieces recycled from legal pads, and felt much less stifled by fear of messing up. Perhaps this will help me to feel more comfortable when I try again with a canvas???
Great backgrounds, you really look as if you're having fun :)
A great start I'd say!!
Lovely and luscious! Great work -- I can hardly wait to see what 'happens' with these :-) Glad to see you 'working your plan' ;-)
It's nice to know that I'm not the only one with a "fear of canvas", Ophelia!!! Your backgrounds are luscious. Looks like you've conquered your fears!!! Hugs, Terri xoxo
Ophelia;
Great pieces. I cringe when it comes to canvasses too! I don't know why either! I think maybe it's the texture or that I can maneuver color so much better in may art journer... I don't know... it's a mystery! LOL! I love the rich green you used for the first one.
Hugs to your summer and blessings to your day!
love the green one!!!
