Views from around my studio..

Good morning blogfriends!!
Hoping this Wednesday morning is going well for you and that you enjoyed the 4th with family and friends.
I was simply spent, and could not make myself part from the couch!!
We literally drove the 12 hour drive through the night to get my son to his Freshman Orientation at Western New England and returned home on Monday morning after driving though the night again!!  Great idea as there was no traffic, but man, oh man were we exhausted!!!
Around the studio, I am still doing the 100 day challenge.  This 12x12 has been added to my Etsy shop along with some of my handmade cards from the challenge.

I finally feel as though I am coming into my own with painting!!
...and it feels great!!
Enjoy your week everyone!!

100 Day Challenge...

Good morning blog friends!!!
I decided a few weeks ago that I would to the 100 day challenge.  I wanted to do 100 abstract paintings.  I figured doing anything for 100 days would have to make me better, right?
I am having such a great time doing this!!
Its simply 100 days of practice for me.
I get to experiment and well, paint.
I also had the pleasure of being a guest on Jerrysartarama Facebook Live.
I had such a blast, and I was honestly so pleased with the response.  If you know me at all, you know I was a WRECK!
With the close of school for this year, my not so little one is ready for his next adventure.
He is ready...
I am not so sure that I am...my studio keeps me busy though.
Until next time,

Happy Tuesday!!

Good morning blog friends,
Hoping this day finds you well and off to an amazing start to your Tuesday!!
Lots of great things have been happening around here, and it seems there is loads more to come with such busy weeks ahead!!
This past Saturday was prom.  Senior prom for us...which makes it bittersweet.  My son with his childhood friend Julianne.
Looking at this makes my heart so happy as all four of them have been friends since they were 2 years old!!  I am just so excited for what lies ahead for them!!
In the studio, I have been having a blast on canvas...yes...canvas!!!
If you know me, then you know my struggle with canvas has been real!!  Lately, its been loads of fun!!
Making marks, adding color and simply playing around...
Learning to let go and just play has not come easy for me.  What I have learned is that it takes time, and lots and lots of ugly work to truly see the magic!!
Have a great day everyone!!
Until next time,

Crazy Busy Good Times!!

Happy Monday!!
Hope your day is off to a great start.
It had been a bit of insanity around here.  Lots and lots going on.  Seems no matter how hard I try, I just can't keep up.
Celebrating Senior Night is a bit bitter sweet.  I just can't believe that we are getting so close to graduation.  I honestly felt that I had loads of time to have my little one at home, but sigh...he graduates in June, and must stretch those wings.
He will spend his next four years at Western New England in Springfield, Mass.  I am excited because he is so excited, but that is such a long way from home!!  I love that he gets to continue to do what he loves.
In the studio, its been a flurry of goodness!!
Chaos the story of my life in finished, matted and framed and ready for a new home!
I tackled a 30 x 30 and won!!  It was a full body workout, but such a great feeling!!
You may have noticed my side bar where I have opened up my Etsy shop!!!  That was a long time coming!!
I have handpainted greeting cards!!
I have thoroughly enjoyed making these!!
...and...when you spend 22 hours on the softball field, its nice to come hkme as champions!!

Humble Beginnings...

I started painting a while back...maybe 8 or so years ago in a journal.  I know that I liked to create...anything, so I picked up a sketchbook and started splashing paint around.
I have found that even though I may move in other directions, returning to my sketchbook to ground and center myself is always comforting.  A well worn and loved journal always holds a special place for me.

Day 30 and Challenge Complete! 😎

I can not believe that we are already to Day 30!!!
I am just so surpirsed at how quickly this month went by...and looking back, I have learned a great deal about my studio habits and the art of letting go!!
This is another 8x8 done on Gessobord--A City in Chaos #2.

Day 29 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days...

Today, I pulled out some Gessobord.  I think I forgot how much I like to paint on these surfaces.  The ability to move color around, and to scratch and make marks on this surface is simply divine!
I feel as though today I painted a city in chaos...
See you tomorrow for Day 30.

Day 28 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days

Tonight is simple.  I just don't feel well at all.  A cold morning spent at a Girl Scout cookie booth, my throat is now on FIRE!
Tonight, I just wanted to get it done.
See you tomorrow for Day 29.

Day 27 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days

In the home stretch!!!!!
I can't tell if I am feeling any better about my paintings, or if that is the point of this whole challenge.  I have noticed I have adopted a don't even think about it approach.  So I am guessing this is a good thing!
Day 27...
See you here tomorrow for Day 28!!

Days 25 and 26 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days

Playing catchup around here.  I promise I didnt make it this far with the challenge and put on my quitter pants.  I suffered a bit of an allergic reaction--not horrible, but enough to get me bumpy and splotchy all over.  So I put myself in a Benadryl induced coma to relieve the itchies as well.
Anywho, a bit better today, so here is Day 25...
Pretty much how I am feeling--crazy.
Day 26...
Almost looks like those three red circles are on a roller coaster ride...again, completely the feeling today.
See you all tomorrow for Day 27.

Day 24 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days

Liquitex introduced their new Muted range last year, and my oh my I have had fun playing with these colors.
I love every color in the range!!
See you tomorrow.

Day 23 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days

This month seems to have flown by.  I have found that some days doing this challenge I have struggled and some days things in the studio seem to hum along.
I felt as though painting today was necessary to wash off the ugliness of the whole day.  Some days painting for me is so freeing and feels fluid, other days, I feel like Its the first time I learned to drive a manuel transmission car...very awkward and filled with lots of jerks and stops.  With the love hate relationship I feel while painting, I can never imagine my life without it.
I will be back tomorrow for Day 24.
Until next time,

Day 21 and 22 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days

This weekend was so full!  I thought I would have a chance to post from our hotel last night, but after the campus visit, we were all exhausted and I just simply could not make my fingers work.
So....here is Day 21...
...and Day 22.
After being on the road all day, and still in the car expecting to be home around 10:30pm, I will be back tomorrow...tired and all for Day 23.

Day 20 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days

Woke up early this morning, well very early for a day off from work.  We head out today to Western New England University in Springfield, Mass.  Its Prospect Day tomorrow...sigh...its also a 10 hour drive.
Today, I needed brighter colors as I seek to match my sons excitement although on the inside, I am an absolute wreck.
Be back tomorrow, from the road!

Day 19 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days

Late night tonight!  Had a nice night with friends playing in our sketchbooks.
Still loving this color combination!!
I'll be back tomorrow.  Well, art bag is packed as we hit the road for Western New England University.

Day 18 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days.

Did I really just say day 18???  I can hardly believe that for 18 straight days I have painted something!  Even if the results were a complete disaster, I do get credit for showing up, right? 😊
I think I have found my favorite color palette so far!!!  I really like these together!!  Purple is not one that I usually work with, but I am completely happy that I gave it a go again after the chaos I created using it a few days ago.
See you all tomorrow for  Day 19!!
Until next time,

Day 17-30 Paintings in 30 Days

Its dark out...its been a long, long day.  I am exhausted, and its only Tuesday.
I like playing around with "landscapeish" looking paintings(is that even a word for it)?  I just find that they are fun. This is a 20x20 canvas which is in the ginormous catagory for me.  But tonight, I needed space.  I am thinking this type of painting will be a series--Where I Belong.
I will be back tomorrow 😊.

Day 16--30 Paintings in 30 Days

Today, I decided to try different colors.  It quickly turned to chaos..serious chaos.
Absolute chaos is what this was...yikes!!  Lesson of the day Boys and Girls...learn your colors😬.
I shall return tomorrow for Day 17.

Day 14 & 15 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days.

Wow!!!  I painted yesterday, hard, then became one with the couch, and completely forgot to upload my work for the day...
Here is Day 14....
...and Day 15....
Can you tell I didn't put away my paints from yesterdays painting session!!
Welp, right back here tomorrow!
Until next time,

Day 13-30 Paintings in 30 days

What a week!!!  You would think that a 2 day week thanks to snow days would be smooth sailing, right.  Not a slim chance.
I came home exhausted!!!!
My time in the studio was a way to shake it all off!  Also, a nice reminder in the madness of life.
I will be back tomorrow for Day 14...wow, 14 whole days of painting daily!!!
Until next time,

Day 12-30 Paintings in 30 Days

After my day yesterday in the studio, I was up this morning well before 4 to get my revenge.  Ok, maybe thats a bit dramatic, but I knew today had to be better.
A small landscape made an appearance today, and I am quite happy with it.  I feel like I need to name this series of landscapes "Where I Belong".
Not sure of a good name for these, but, I will be right back here tomorrow with Day 13.
Until next time,
