Making Progress....

Happy Tuesday everyone,

I hope that you all are having a great start to your week!  We are in the midst of end of year testing here...so nerves are seriously fried!

I woke up super early this morning to get into the studio to relieve some of that testing stress the only way that I know how.

Slap some paint around!

I can't think of a better way to let it all go.

Today is my daughters 9th Birthday!

I am not sure of where the time goes!!  Today being her birthday, she has her End Of Grade Reading test today--talk about a special gift...send over some love will you...she is a nervous wreck...me too!

Getting Lost...

Happy Saturday!!

I'm up early, for a Saturday morning, and decided it was high time that I get away from it all.  With dishes and laundry and normal day to day house stuff pulling at me, I just want to run and hide.

How do you get away from it all??  You know, get lost??  

Sometimes for me, its a really good book, today, its coffee, music, and me in my studio with the door closed!

To get lost in some paint...

Sprays, inks, just stuff.

Seems its been way to long since I have given myself time to just create.

And just play around...

Do you ever have those kinds of days?  Where you need to just get lost??

I hope you have the greatest day ever.  I will be at Jerrys later today for a demo with Charvin Acrylics...where I will continue to lose myself!

I recently taught a journaling workshop at Jerrys, and while cleaning up after class, I found this...

A Goal Worth Completing...

Hi blog friends, and happy Tuesday!

You may remember a few posts back I mentioned a goal that I set for myself that I promised to tell you more about...well...

It looks a bit like this so far.

Yes...there are lots and lots of canvas panels ready for some paint!

I originally set a goal to make 400 tiny paintings---yes, 448 to be exact, 1) so I could learn composition, and well, how to paint...and 2) just because I thought...why not...but I really, really just wanted to learn how to paint--outside of my journals.

A month or so ago, my daughter had to have some emergency dental wotk done, and, well, my sons tournament funds are now in her mouth!!  

So I took that same goal idea, and decided to create those paintings as a way to help raise money for him to travel with his team again this year---to Kentucky.

So, I have been playing in paint...with lots and lots of canvas boards in a variety of sizes.

In The Midst of all the Craziness...

I find such comfort in paint...

Paint, inks, anything color...

Kind of a great escape...

And you know what?????

These little treasures ask absolutely nothing in return...

So, I continue to just play...for no other reason than the sheer joy it brings.

I Simply Love Color

And lots of it!

I think my downfall when I walk into an art supply store is the glorious display of color...just have to have it all!

In my Lukas watercolor palette, I was not feeling one color in particular--English Red, so, As an attempt to use it all up, I decided to just mix it with all the colors in my palette.

And mix, I did...

Its such a strong color, that it takes over everything...but I quickly discovered, it makes great Fall colors...wrong season, but glorious color!

Dear English Red, I love you!

A Beautiful Mess

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Well...its a wee bit better now that my coffee is finally kicking in!!  I knew with the start of this week, that it was going to be a busy one, but when I wake up, ready to go back to bed, things are rough!!!

With an extra strong cup of coffee, I headed up to the studio, and decided today was going to be a paint slinging, make a mess kind of day...

Mission Complete!

Somehow, paints and supplies just take over my space.

And I just roll with it.

Grabbing a bit of this and a snippet of that...and magic happens.

Just a blissful frenzy of paint love!

I am working on small 5x7 paintings...and lots and lots of them.  I have a crazy large goal that I will share when it doesn't scare the heck out of me!!!

I really want to spend all of my days in my studio, bit, a whole lot of it is spent watching this guy do his thing...

And, I wouldn't miss a moment of it!
